Ideas for the flower-loving friend

Photography by Lucy Hunter

LUCY HUNTER aka The Flower Hunter is a dear friend and was featured in Issue one of FAIRE.

Lucy Hunter is a floral photographer and garden artist based in North Wales. Through her work, she explores the many different ways to meld the wild and the chaotic with the cultivated and the tamed to create a romantic and emotional response to the moment. She is inspired by the British landscapes and the aesthetic sensibilities of 20th century England and strives to represent these inspirations in every arrangement.

I know that one gift that is top of my wishlist is, ‘The Flower Hunter’ by Lucy Hunter, published by Ryland, Peters and Small in 2021.

It is available everywhere books are sold and it is a REAL treat!

Here are a few of the wonderful goodies on Lucys gift wishlist

‘Tretorn’ Rubber boots.

  • Rubber boots with a wetsuit lining and thick bouncy sole….. not only do these keep my feet toasty warm and dry but even better they are so quick and easy to get on and off!

    TERRÄNG LOW NEO, £80.00

Lip Salve.

I really like ‘Bobbi Brown , Extra Lip Tint’  in bare pink. Really moisturizing and it isn’t sticky which so many lip salves seem to be, which is a nightmare if its windy as my hair always gets stuck to my lips… not the best look!

EXTRA LIP TINT, £21.00

Flower Press.

I’ve always pressed flowers. My Grandmother taught me to place them between sheets of watercolour paper and magazines pilled high. I still do this but also treated myself to a handmade press from ‘ No 44. Permillion’

Handmade Botanical/Flower Press, £48.00

CfM + Cloutier Handmade ceramic slip cast palette.

There is nothing better than mixing paint for a new project using these very beautiful handmade ceramic palettes from ‘A Case for Making’ based in San Francisco.

CfM + Cloutier Ceramics Slipcast Square Mixing Palette, $64.00

Niwaki Sakagen Flower Scissors.

Every Florist needs good snips that remain sharp and are comfortable to use. These are my go too. Only draw back is that they are very sharp indeed!

From Niwaki, £32.00

Jules Hogan knitwear

I’d be very happy with any gift from this wonderful artist who hand dyes and knits wrist warmers, socks and jumpers. The socks come in delicious colours.

Alpaca Ribbed Socks- Warm Tones, £35.00
